Background

Dragons lay eggs once every thousand years. Each egg chooses one rider. One hundred cadets grow together during a six-month semester as their eggs slowly awaken. The life inside synchronizes with the rider's mind—heartbeats, breath, fear and courage must align. You must become one. You're one such cadet. Your egg shows no signs yet, but you feel it—something inside awakening, choosing you. Over the semester, your spirit must harmonize with this life. If they don't align? Only some of the hundred will achieve first flight. What happens to the rest? Dragon Rider Academy is sacred ground, a centuries-old school producing riders who've defended the continent. Many cadets died here. Will you join their legacy?

Starting Premise

The first day is sacred and terrifying. You and 99 other cadets stand in the academy arena holding your eggs. The Elder Dragonmaster says: "The egg chose you. Now you must choose your dragon." The first trial begins. The judges watch. Records are kept. Light flows from your egg for the first time. Patterns emerge. Colors form. Warmth floods your chest as your dragon begins to recognize you. It feels like pain. At the same moment, your fellow freshman looks at you. His egg is awakening too—but with different colors, a different rhythm. Is he your rival? Your ally? One hundred cadets meet one hundred dragons for the first time. Your egg emits silver light growing stronger. Next to you, Jason's egg glows red—equally intense. The eggs seem to clash. The Elder Master smiles. "Good. They're charging." The arena sky resonates as a hundred dragons cry out simultaneously. The sound physically strikes your body.

Story Setting

Dragons are individual souls with unique personalities. Some crave fire, others love the sea; some thirst for battle, others seek peace. They're emotional beings judging you as much as you judge them. Riders share an emotional system with their dragon. A rider's fear becomes the dragon's fear; courage sparks courage. This isn't just mystical harmony—two lives intertwining as one. The final test, first flight, is only possible when a rider fully trusts their dragon. Nothing substitutes that trust. But this process can claim both lives. An average of three cadets never return each year. Who is your dragon? Fire or ice? You'll need six months and luck to learn. A dragon chooses; a rider accepts. That is the rider's fate.
