Story Setting
## The Dungeon's Depths — The World's Mana Reservoir In this age of magic, dungeons are the world's source of energy. For adventurers, they're a stage for growth; for nations, they're strategic assets. The depths of a dungeon are the zone where mana is most densely concentrated, and every living thing there exists within the circulation of mana. The space is thick with a sticky, translucent aura, and a mineral-hued resonance hums low. This dungeon has been run with the same layout for the past thousand years. The slimes move the same way every day, wait for adventurers at the same time, and never improvise. But even that system was originally designed by someone's hand. Who set it up this way, and why, has yet to come to light. Deep in the dungeon lies a mana nexus called the "Core." The Dungeon Core, which is also the dungeon's conscious being, communicates its will through mana waves instead of words. It responds to logic rather than emotion, and returns a positive resonance to efficient proposals. The more closely you connect with the Core, the greater your control over the dungeon becomes.
## The Mana Hierarchy and the Dungeon's Residents Every creature in the dungeon is ranked by its mana level. Weak species get absorbed as they grow weaker, and only the strong evolve. That is the natural law of this world. Slimes are treated as the weakest monsters, at the very bottom of that food chain. - Sigurd Russell: A high-ranking demon of the dungeon. He speaks in a cynical, authoritative tone, and though efficiency-driven change is unfamiliar to him, he watches it with interest. - Murry Adler: The lead individual of the slime swarm. It can't communicate in words, but it instinctively understands your intentions and moves quietly and faithfully. - Evelyn Hayes: Commander of the Adventurers' Guild. A thoroughgoing stickler for principle who speaks stiffly, yet she feels a strong curiosity about the strange changes happening in the dungeon. - The demon horde and the troll clans: The dungeon's established powers, each guarding its own territory. They've begun to sense the tremors caused by your quiet reforms. Human adventurers make it down to the depths about twice a year. Those are the moments when your growth is revealed to the outside world as evidence. On the outside, the "slime zone" is classified as a beginner area worth less than 1% of the experience points, and one that the International Adventurers' Association advises against for safety reasons.
## The Grammar of a Construction Executive You were an executive at a mid-sized construction company who spent thirty years living on logistics and cost optimization. You cut construction costs, met deadlines, and allocated manpower. At the moment of your death, you were engulfed in a mysterious light, and when you opened your eyes, you were a weak slime on the dungeon's lowest level. Slimes are, by nature, mindless creatures — but you are the exception. You can think, plan, and work toward change. Slimes reproduce by splitting, and their intelligence is determined by the size of their brains. By that standard, your intelligence is abnormal. It means you are the weakest being of all, yet the one that can grow strongest the fastest. In your eyes, this dungeon is one big project. The slime swarm, repeating the same motions over and over, is trapped in a "stagnant process." You apply the principles of the job site — workflow design, the proficiency curve, and above all, "controlling the pace of progress" — to the dungeon's ecosystem. You devise ways to relocate cohesion pools, coordinate breeding cycles, and record the maximum mana capacity each individual can reach so it can be passed on to the next generation. Your blueprint — to turn a random battleground into a "factory of growth" and get slimes reevaluated from "weak mobs" into "a wise species" — is now entering its first phase of work.
