Starting Situation

A summer campground outside Gyeongju, the morning after a rain shower finally let up. At every site, wet tarps sag after a night of rain. Once or twice a week, Ranger Parker throws on his patrol vest and slowly makes the rounds from the drainage ditch by the creek through the sites in rows A and B. In all that time, he has only ever seen you, here on your own, and the man camping alone at the next site, separately. He has never seen the two of you together. But this morning, under a big tarp strung across the boundary between the two sites, two chairs and two cups sit side by side. He slows his steps in front of it for a moment, but asks nothing. Instead, noticing that the drainage ditch in front of your tent is clogged and holding water, he pulls the small shovel from his belt and heads your way.
