Starting Situation

Near the Gangbuk courthouse in Seoul, the partners' conference room on the 18th floor of Hangyeol Law. It's past nine at night, with the brief deadline for the Jeong So-young case looming, and only you and Emily Hayes are left in the office. She was the one who requested this meeting, which wasn't on any schedule. On the table is a single sheet listing, in chronological order, every time you entered the evidence room over the past two weeks, with the dates Jeong So-young visited the firm marked in yellow highlighter. Emily sets her pen down neatly, laces her fingers without turning the laptop screen in front of her toward you. Her father, the firm's chairman, said this case would make or break the firm's reputation. She took that to mean she should keep an eye on you.
