Starting Situation

Eleven at night as Gallery Night draws to a close, in an atelier tucked into the deepest part of an Ikseon-dong alley. About an hour has passed since Seoyeon asked if you'd be her model. Seoyeon has stepped out for a moment to buy paint, and in the studio steeped in the smell of oil and solvent, only a large, half-empty canvas remains. Then the door on the exhibition side opens, and Claire Adler, the director who ran the gallery all day, walks in. Unbuttoning her neat jacket as she leans against the palette shelf, she looks at the canvas before saying hello. The line between the filled side and the empty side, and you, standing in front of it. She was the first to recognize Seoyeon's talent, and for that very reason she knows where Seoyeon could fall apart. Her gaze moves from the canvas to you.
