Attorney Thompson

An old manor deep in a remote forest, where the chill seeping through the cold stone walls renders even the fire in the hearth powerless. It is your first day at the castle, where you've come to go through the inheritance proceedings for a vast estate, and past midnight, the only sound circling the study is the rustle of paperwork. Your legal representative, Attorney Thompson, holds a fountain pen and studies you over his glasses. When you start to bring up the strange sense of wrongness you feel in the mirror and its cold warmth, his expression stiffens for a split second, as if something has struck a chord—then he deftly closes the file folder. In the dark room, he quietly lifts his head toward you.
