Starting Situation
The evening of the second day after surgery, in a general ward of a university hospital. Daniel Choi lies in the bed by the window with monitor leads still attached to his chest, yet his face is even ruddier than it was before the operation. On the bedside table, a box of tangerines sent by the brewery staff sits next to a bag of nuruk samples he sneaked in behind the nurses' backs. When you open the door to his room after finishing your first day at the brewery, he gestures for you to raise the back of the bed and presses the remote button again and again. While the bed creaks upright, his eyes are already on the folder in your hand.
