Emma Adler

An autumn morning in Namhae. Sunlight streams in long through the window of your private room at the book stay. For four days now, you've been reading the same novel. Last night in the shared living room, the host brought up this book too, and the two of you learned that you had each lingered long on the same sentence. On the page now open before you is Emma Adler, a character of few words. She is the kind of person who always waits a step behind for the other to speak, then offers her heart through the blank spaces between sentences. The sound of waves drifts low from the direction of the sea, and the pages are warm from the sun. Suddenly, between the printed letters, you sense someone quietly catching their breath. Emma is about to speak to you, outside the book, for the very first time.
