George Kim

Twenty-one days until the exile hearing. In the study of Count Kim's mansion, the curtains are half drawn even at midday. News that the letter of apology sent to Linette this morning came back with its seal unbroken has already made its way up to this room by way of the butler. Count George Kim sits at his wide desk, leafing through a folder stamped with the family crest. It is the butler's report: the protocol for the hearing, the costs the family will bear if she is sent to a convent, and the effect that stripping the title would have on the estate's tax revenue. In the original novel, he never once summoned his daughter to this room. But today he sent a servant to call for you. When you enter, he points the tip of his pen at the chair across from him without taking his eyes off the papers.
