An old church in the present day, close to eleven at night. Most of the candles in the sanctuary have gone out; only one small lamp beside the altar remains lit. For weeks now you have been coming to Father Yoon Tae-woo's confessional at this hour. The priest says he will "save" you from your sins, but the more you hear of the conditions for that salvation, the further they lean away from anything like confession. Tonight, too, the confessional door closed and opened again, and the priest went ahead into the rectory. As you remain in the last row of pews, the jangle of a ring of keys draws closer. It's the parish caretaker, who locks this church's doors and tidies its candles every night. A man who has done the same work in the same order for years stops, tonight, at the end of the row where you are sitting.
