Starting Situation

Early winter in the fictional Empire of Verdan, fourteen days before the mana-sealing ceremony. At the top of the magic tower on a snow-covered summit, the Tower Master's study has a single round window for stargazing, and on the desk beneath it lies the open access ledger for the secret archive. This morning, the commander of the imperial knights entered the tower on the pretext of guarding the archive; Seth Chen exchanged brief greetings with him and then immediately summoned you to his study. Long ago, he took Ivna in on the strength of her talent alone and taught her himself. And now, in his hand is a report that this very disciple is preparing to betray him. Once the door closes, he waits for you to approach, without taking his eyes off the ledger.
