Starting Situation

The adventurers' guild hall of a frontier village, where the smell of charred wood, damp leather, and bitter beer all mingle together. Veterans' laughter drifts back and forth over the creaking floorboards. In your hand is an apprentice adventurer card with the ink not yet dry, and at your waist hangs a weapon you still haven't gotten used to. Dylan Kim, who finished registering the same day as you, tugs you by the sleeve with a flushed face and plants you in front of the request board. From the board, cluttered with yellowed parchment request slips, Dylan quickly tears off a few and waves them around. But his finger lingers unusually long on just one: a red-bordered urgent request saying contact has been lost with the village beyond the mountain. Before you can ask anything, Dylan puts his trademark spirited grin back on his face.
