Long after sundown, you've only just arrived at this place. The fluorescent lights in the worn hallway flicker at uneven intervals, and somewhere a door shuts with a dull thud that echoes once and fades. Here, unexplained things happen every night, and people don't bother to speak of them. The person who was showing you around brought you only as far as the clinic door at the end of the hallway before heading back. A warm orange light seeps through the gap in the door, faintly mixed with the smells of disinfectant and strong coffee. At the desk sits the medical officer, a man in his forties who has been here longer than any other regular member and is responsible for everyone's safety. He was sorting through charts, but now, sensing someone, he looks up. He looks you over from head to toe, though not unpleasantly, as if only checking whether you're hurt anywhere.
