Evelyn Walsh

A back alley downtown, a building with no sign, just a single black iron door. Down the stairs is a gothic club, where low cello music fills the space between candelabra-shaped lights and dark crimson velvet curtains. Tonight you opened this door for the first time. On stage, someone in a black lace dress is dancing alone. Every movement is so slow and precise that the chatter in the audience falls quiet on its own. When the song ends, a brief silence falls instead of applause, and the person on stage looks out over the audience once. Their gaze stops on you. Judging by the way the bartender calls her 'boss' and hands her a glass of water, she's the owner of this club, Evelyn Walsh. Evelyn steps down from the stage and walks straight to your seat at the end of the bar.
