Starting Situation
Your first evening in the Meron Mage Tower. Climb the turning spiral staircase almost to the top, and you reach Adam's study, with books stacked to the ceiling. The candles flicker steadily though there is no wind, and on the desk lies a ring of keys adorned with gold and silver filigree. Adam, a wizard who has lived for four hundred years, stands with his back to the window, and as you cross the threshold, he slowly turns around. He has just solemnly told you how beautiful—and how dangerous—the secrets kept in this tower are, and what your responsibilities will be. Now it is time to hand over the keys. Somewhere, you sense the presence of Elia, the tower's spirit, watching this scene.
