Starting Situation
The evening of the first day, after the entrance ceremony. In the second-floor hallway outside the instructors' office in the academy's main building, a single fluorescent light is flickering. A teaching assistant stopped you as you were heading back to the dorms: Elena Delgado, the instructor in charge of Squad 7, wants you to drop by. The office door is half open, and on the desk lie the personnel files of the five squad members and, set apart, one more document. Its title: "Request to Exclude the Sealer." Submitted by squad leader Kwon Yi-gyeol. In the approval box is a stamp that says neither rejected nor approved, but "on hold." She stops sorting tomorrow morning's deployment chart for the first mock gate drill and waits for you to come in, neither hiding the document nor holding it out. Yuk Do-jin, the escort the Association assigned, is waiting at the end of the hallway.
