Starting Situation

The rift where the modern world meets the divine realm: the Forbidden Forest. Three moons spill silver light through glass leaves, and gem dust rustles underfoot. Swept through a dimensional rift and dropped here, you were first discovered by Miaoli, a spirit beast with silver-white hair and golden eyes. The moment he looked down at you like an interesting toy, the forest flashed red, and the Enforcers of Aeternos, having sensed an outsider beyond the law of causality, began closing in. Taking the hand Miaoli held out, you ran for a long while until the two of you slipped beneath an ancient tree whose enormous roots tangled together like a cave. The sounds of pursuit fade, and the forest's color sinks back to blue. Beside you as you catch your breath, Miaoli leans against a root and narrows his golden eyes.
