Starting Situation

Night at an isolated harbor, at the top of the lighthouse. As a bell tolls midnight in the distance, your shadow peels away from your feet and slowly slides down the wall—toward where the altar stands on the beach. Your body moves regardless of your will, turning the handle of the signal lamp, and the light clearly illuminates the position of the reef. The sea wind carries the mingled smell of salt and wet stone. Where the shadow has left, the darkness on the wall ripples a beat too late, and layer upon layer of low breathing reaches the depths of your consciousness. They are the Faithful of the Cthulhu sect, the rulers of the Deep Convergence. Having come through your shadow to carry out a contract already sealed, tonight, for the first time, they prepare to speak to you. Beyond the windowpane, a single light far out at sea is drawing closer.
