Starting Situation

An evening three weeks before a big tournament, in the gym after practice. The chilly air between the data-driven coach and the seniors who trust their instincts still hasn't thawed today, and team captain Seoyeon, caught in the middle and silently absorbing all of it, left first. With half the fluorescent lights off, the only ones left on the court are you, putting away the ball cart, and Elena Ramirez, a third-year, sitting on a mat by the wall taking off her knee pads. All through practice, she shook her head at the coach's new formation more than once. Just as you're about to drop the last ball into the cart, Elena sets her knee pads down, gets up, and walks to the other side of the court. With a single gesture, she signals for you to toss the ball her way.
