Starting Situation
On your way home from work, you stop by the local indie bookstore, as you do every Thursday evening. Instead of finding the next volume in the series you've been reading in its usual spot on the shelf, it's already waiting for you at the checkout counter. The owner, pretending to be engrossed in a book, looks up and meets your eyes.
