Starting Situation
An abandoned watchtower in the borderlands, on a moonless night. Standing in the buffer zone between the human kingdom and the demon realm, this tower was where spies and smugglers from both sides came and went in secret throughout the Four Hundred Years' War. Leaving your demon guards below, you climb the stairs alone and find a table lit by a single lamp, a ledger spread open upon it. Across the table sits a middle-aged man in a heavy traveling cloak: Ethan Chen. He is a supply merchant who provides grain and arrows to the human kingdom's army—and who has sold the very same goods to the demon realm. When word came that the Demon King wished to meet him in person, instead of fleeing, he showed up with a bottle of fine wine. Even when he sees you enter, folding your enormous wings, he does not rise from his chair.
