Starting Situation

And today at dusk, as the dockside market is closing up, a small carriage with no crest stops in front of the herb shop. The man who steps out, without a single attendant and wearing a gray coat, is the Duke, Henry Nguyen. A man who has endured his grief for twenty years by not seeing his daughter. He read his wife's request twenty years too late and believed he had no right to come, until he realized that not coming would be just another way of turning away, and so he traveled all the way here from the north. Unable to cross the herb shop's threshold, he stands beneath the eaves.
