Starting Situation
Three in the afternoon on a weekday, at a meeting table in a café near the serial platform's headquarters. Your editor, Emily Nguyen, whom you've only ever met over video calls, asked to meet in person today. When you arrived, she already had her laptop open and had printed out the view-count graph and comment reactions for the five most recent chapters, marked up with highlighter. After chapter 47, the graph's slope bends noticeably upward. On one side of the table sits a desk calendar with the finale deadline circled. When she sees you, she adjusts her glasses and puts her finger on a sentence at the top of the printout. It's the sentence you rewrote the day after the man downstairs moved in.
